How does ECI work?

Consignment means you send us items you're looking to sell. We photograph, grade and list them on your behalf across our website and social media. Once an item sells, you get paid — we handle the listing, buyer questions, payment and shipping. It's the simplest, most time-efficient way to turn unused items into cash. Let ECI take care of the whole process for you.

Where is Equi Consignment Ireland based?

We are based at Barnadown Showjumping near Gorey, Co. Wexford. We ship nationwide across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Collection from our HQ is welcome by arrangement.

Does ECI have a store or is it online only?

Accepted Answer

ECI is primarily an online store, however we hope to open a pop-up store at Barnadown Showjumping on various show dates throughout the year. Please keep an eye on our social media for these dates. We also welcome customers to visit by prior arranged appointment — if you would like to call in to look at any particular items, please get in touch.

How do I consign items with ECI?

Please get in touch via our Contact page or WhatsApp +353 89 206 9332. Our Terms & Conditions are also available there. You can send or drop in your items — ECI can either go through them for you, or if you'd like to be present we'll go through them together.

What items does ECI accept?

Accepted Answer

We accept any clean, serviceable items for the rider, the horse, tack and saddlery, or stable equipment used for competitions, training or home use. The only items we do not accept are body protectors, air vests and used helmets. We also do not take any items with structural damage or equipment at the end of its working life.

How long does it take to sell an item?

Accepted Answer

Most premium, well-priced products sell quickly. Highly regarded brand-name pieces often sell within a few weeks — sometimes within days. If a particular item is slow to move, the price will be reviewed after six months. Please see our Terms & Conditions for more details.

How does ECI grade second-hand products?

Accepted Answer

Every item is checked in person and assigned a condition grade of A*, A, B or C, with honest defect notes and detailed photos on the listing. Nothing is sent out without a full condition check.

Question 9

What do Grade A*, A, B and C mean?

Accepted Answer

Grade A* — Brand new with tags: unworn with original tags or packaging still attached. Grade A — Brand new without tags: unworn or worn once with no visible signs of use. Grade B — Excellent: lightly used, minor signs of wear only on close inspection. Grade C — Used: honest wear from regular use, fully functional and well cared for.

Are the listing measurements accurate?

Yes. Every item is listed with its original label size as well as relevant physical measurements where applicable (chest, length, drop, seat size, gullet width) — used equestrian gear varies significantly between brands.

What payment methods does ECI accept?

Secure card payment at checkout. Bank transfer can also be arranged for higher-value items by request.

Do you deliver across Ireland?

Yes — we deliver nationwide across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland via tracked courier. Collection from Gorey, Co. Wexford is also welcome by arrangement.

How much is delivery and how long does it take?

Standard nationwide postage is a flat €6.95, and delivery is free on orders over €150. Most orders are dispatched within 2 working days by tracked courier from Gorey, Co. Wexford.

Do you ship to the UK or internationally?

Accepted Answer

UK shipping is available by quote. Please note that since Brexit, UK orders may be subject to import VAT, customs duties and a courier handling fee on arrival — these are paid by the buyer and are outside ECI's control. We will provide the customs documentation (commercial invoice, CN22/CN23 and HS codes) required for clearance. Please get in touch before purchase for a delivery quote.

What is your returns policy on pre-loved equestrian items?

ECI operates a zero returns policy — all items are sold as seen and approved by the purchaser. The only exception is saddles, which come with a 14-day trial (see our Terms & Conditions). If you're not happy with an item, you're welcome to re-consign it with ECI and we'll resell it on your behalf. Consignor payouts are released at the end of the working week following a successful sale.

How do I know if an item is still available?

If the listing shows 'Available', it's in stock and ready to ship. Sold items remain on the shop grid greyed out so you can see what's recently moved and judge how quickly stock turns over.

Can I reserve or hold an item?

Accepted Answer

Short holds (24–48 hours) are possible by WhatsApp request on +353 89 206 9332. Items purchased online can also be held for collection by arrangement.
